Questions and Answers
How is postage actually calculated?
Posatge can vary from location to location, depending on what post office we use. (Some use different methods of calculation, but are further away for us to travel. So to be fair, we take an average of the actual postage costs, and add a $2.00 handling fee. The actual costs of postage on the label may be more or less than the amount invoiced, but should be within a reasonably close margin.
How much does freight cost?
We try & use the most cost effective means possible, which is currently via Australia Post.

The calculated rate of postage is out worked during the buying process (at step 3), and depends on your postcode.

Because actual postage rates vary, depending on which post office we use(?), the calculated cost is an average. Sometimes we win & sometimes we lose.

Why are postage costs so high?
The large size of our cartons means that postage is somewhat expensive compared to smaller products, because all transport companies calculate the weight of a product relative to the amount of space it takes up.

The outside dimensions of our cartons measure 52cm x 43 cm x 41 cm. To give you an idea, the volume of each carton is more than 90 litres (equal to about 10 buckets of water). Even though the carton weighs less than 7 kgs, Australia Post calculates that this carton is the equivalent of a 25 kg parcel.

So to make sure you feel comfortable with the postage, please visit the Australia Post website at www.auspost.com.au/pac/ and calculate for yourself what a 20kg carton (their maximum) would cost in postage if you were shipping from Melbourne (3000) to your postcode.

And feel free to contact us if you have any questions, and to complain to Australia Post (a monopoloy) about the high cost of postage in Australia. :)
